25 years of Satellite

There is something a little strange about that date.

The album was released on September 11, 2001. I can’t imagine what it must have been like for the band to have their new album come out on a day that suddenly became connected with something completely different.

And somehow, when I listen to Satellite now, there is a certain feeling in the album that makes me connect it with that time hardly.

Youth of the Nation wasn’t about 9/11, of course. It was written about other things, and the song came out later. But there is something about it, and about the whole album, that just fits the atmosphere of those days.

I still love that album.

My TOPs like Youth of the Nation, Satellite, Set It Off, Alive, Ghetto… I don’t think I ever really connected with the lyrics of these songs in any deep way. But somehow, it doesn’t matter. I just love listening to them from the beginning.

There is something about that whole album that still works for me after all these years.

And because apparently just listening to the album wasn’t enough, DIXXON Flannel Company has now made a limited Satellite-themed flannel in collaboration with P.O.D.

If you know me, you probably already know where this is going.

I’m slightly addicted to Dixxon flannels.

So yep…

We’ll see how long I can resist this one. ^^
