The new *Nova* Firefox

So, the new Firefox design is coming.

I’ve been looking at it in Nightly and honestly, I’m not sure what to think about it yet.

The whole thing feels a bit too floating to me. Tabs, panels… everything seems to have more space around it and feels like it’s sitting in its own little bubble.

That’s just the design, though. I can probably get used to that.

What worries me more is where Firefox is going in general.

I really don’t want my browser to become another place full of widgets, news, recommendations and sponsored stuff.

I don’t want to open a New Tab and get a bunch of things I never asked for.

That’s just bloat. I want Firefox to be a browser.

That’s one of the reasons I still use Firefox in the first place.

Mozilla has its Firefox Manifesto. I think it’s worth remembering what Firefox is actually supposed to stand for.

So yeah, change the way it looks if you want.

Just don’t change what Firefox is.

I really hope they don’t forget that.
